Burn Marks

Sometimes a cigarette is dropped on the carpet, or some other item causes a small burn stain.

To remove the burned carpet, simply take a sharp razor blade and cut away the black part of the carpet. This works well if there is still some strand of the carpet underneath the burnt section. A dull razor blade should never be used, and using too much force can cause the blade to slip away from you, and someone may get hurt.

Oil Stain Removal Tips

Oil stains are very stubborn, and can be very hard to remove if you are unaware of the correct technique.  Using liquid dish soap usually removes oil from clothing and carpet.  Dish soap with grease fighting power usually works the best, but almost all dish soaps should have this feature.

Soft Drink Stains

When removing a soft drink stain it is important to remove all of the sugar that the beverage may leave behind. The sugar can attract dirt, and eat away at your carpet.

To clean the soft drink stain remove as much of the stain as you can. Once the area is dry, rinse the area lightly with a mix of laundry detergent and water. Use the detergent sparingly, as any leftover soap can damage your carpet much like the sugar. Avoid scrubbing your carpet, as you may unravel it.

Urine

Dry the area with paper towels. The area should feel dry to the touch. Blot the area with a damp cloth. Use a solution of one part vinegar, to one part water, to rinse the area. With dog and cat training it is important to properly remove the stain. If any of the stain remains your pet may think that area of the carpet is an OK place to mark their territory.

Pet urine stains can be some of the most difficult to remove. If the problem, is allowed to exist for a long period of time, the stain can be absorbed into the sub floor.

Wax Stains

To remove wax stains plug in your iron and let it heat up.

Avoid letting the iron touch the carpet, as some carpets will melt on contact with an iron. Place a damp wet cloth or paper towel over the wax, and iron the wax out of the carpet and into the towel.
